Day 1 at ravensbourne, studio work

Day 1 in the studio we was asked to bring in 10 items from our past and present which represent memories to ourselves. In doing this we was then asked to observe and record our objects using our senses, first starting from our vision and then moving to touch, taste and sound. This was an interesting exercise to carry out in regards to the term of memory as when holding my object with my eyes closed to record I was more focused on using my memory of the object to draw it rather than the touch of it. After recording our objects we was then asked to choose which items we want to use to make a time capsule to bury, after doing this we sketched out our time capsules and decided  and discussed with others where and when we would all bury our time capsules.  I found it helpful to discuss our ideas to each other and found it interesting to see how they were all different to each others. It was also really lovely to look around at everyones objects that they had brought it and to see how it really represented them and a memory to themselves.

This is a sketch of my time capsule that I will later bury

This is an image of me selecting the items I want to bury in my time capsule and placing them into a plastic bag

My visual drawing recording an object containing a memory
Using different senses to record my objects, using only the touch of my hands to record my object. The outcome of my drawing was surprising to myself as my object had formed a shape of movement from its original shape.

10 items set into an order of what is mostly used every day to which are not used at all and are kept as memories
