On our first day learning about lens based media we started by looking at our 10 selected photos that we had taken over the weekend of our surrounding environment. We was then asked to select one image to record using what ever materials we desire. I decided to work from a photo of my fish tank with the rocks inside. I find this is to be a calming exercise to record as it is a relaxing image to work from and the detail and pattern involved on the rocks is fascinating to study. However, I found it difficult to complete an A1 sheet of my sketch but managed to get the basic outlines involved and focus on a smaller section to detail. After completing this sketch we took lines of paper to select different sections of the piece to photograph.

| Using a triangular shape to mark out a section from the piece. This section in particular is a detailed part from the rocks of the fish tank |
| This section involves a section of the rocks along side with moving pieces inside the tank |
| A rectangular section of the rocks |
| A section showing different type of rock inside the tank with a fish swimming |

A section of the rocks joining together with the fish on the right hand side
We was then given 6 words and was told to walk around and capture images representing these words. The words are: Crush, Fall, Jump, Echo, Sad, Happy
I found this to be an exciting task to carry out as we got to view how we can capture an image and see what one word the viewer could give to that image. To find out and learn how to represent what the photographer wants the viewer to think through the way the camera is positioned and the photograph is taken. e.g being portrait or landscape. I enjoyed being able to go off and explore the university with my camera and take different shots, at first I found it challenging to form these words because of the setting around us but later discovered that you could be anywhere and still be able to express these words through an image. I also found it interesting to see what others had done to express these words through an image. It was nice to see how everyone had different ideas and that no one really had the same images. Also being able to discuss how we came up with the idea and why we think it expressed those certain words was useful to acknowledge.

| This image i captured represents the word 'Echo' as it is the water moving with waves, which represents an echo occurring of the waves |
| This image represents 'Happy', which i found on a vending machine as the guy in the photo is smiling happily with a packet of crisps, indicating that food is an essential element in life which makes a person happy |
| I chose to capture this as 'Sad' as the players on the football table are being used as objects to play table football. This can be seen as sad as they have no facial expression |
| I captured this image to be "crushed" as it is a broken table, the wheels on the right hand side have been crushed so is no longer a stable table |
| I captured this photo to be 'Jump' as it is indicating someone jumping from the stairs |
| I chose this photo as 'Fall' as it is a block of stairs indicating that someone can fall down |
