On our final day of Fashion and Textiles we paired up and made our designs. This included us measuring each other to decide who would model each others and fitting it on to the mannequin. After completing my skirt to fit to scale. I modelled it on each floor around the uni and my partner took photographs of me. I enjoyed being able to actually create something that I had designed and was really happy with the outcome of my skirt. It was fun measuring and fitting it onto the mannequin whilst in progress of making it. I feel like I have achieved something by doing this as I had originally started from a sample to then producing a skirt fit to be worn.

I feel that I had achieved something in todays task as I had followed my designs and made a skirt that fits to scale. Feedback I got from students was really helpful in deciding whether to make the skirt a longer length or leave it the length made and leaving it the length made was a better choice and which I feel suited the style better. I did find it challenging to measure at points and to hold up against my body but overall was a success when capturing images of my final design. However, if I was able to repeat this task I would do the skirt shorter and make it bulk and add more curls of paper around if I had more time to do so. Overall, I am pleased with what I have accomplished as I didn't think I could create something like this on my own and really ended up enjoying the pathway of Fashion and Textiles much more than I had expected and wanted to do some more days exploring the pathway.
I really liked the end result of your fashion design piece. I thought that colours were used very effectively contrasting the bright colours of the green and magazine pages against the plain colours of the brown and white pieces of paper. I also liked the overall structure of the garment, the spirals of paper suggest a very delicate construction rolling down from the waist, once again contrasted with the under layer of the brown paper that creates the backbone of the whole garment. Something that you could have done if you were going to take this any further would have been to use more vibrant intertwining colours to make it more striking and also to make the spirals of paper longer so that it becomes a longer skirt that finishes at the knee area of the leg. But overall a great job :)
