Day 2 of graphics began with a video on Milton Glaserwas involving typography. We then had a task to do with the use of experimenting with numbers and letters through the use of shapes and different techniques. We started of by experimenting 10 different ways of forming letters or numbers through shapes and use of different media. I think I got on with this task quite well as it was using different methods of drawing or doodling to then finding shapes or numbers to appear with in that drawing. I find the task to be a successful one because I produced either numbers or letters in each piece and enjoyed the experimenting side of it as I had made several different samples trying it out instead of sketching plans.

Our next task involved using typography by creating our own style. First we was given books and a piece of paper containing the 'Gill Sans' font to trace from. The word I chose to use was 'dream' because I think its important to fulfil your dreams in whatever you want to do. At first I found it difficult to find a word to begin with as most other people had thought of the same word as me and also I wanted my word to stand out but eventually I discovered that dream is a very meaningful word to use and felt that it represented myself well.

| Figure 10: Untitled (2013) Authors own. My first idea of my own typography style was to use 3D writing, almost like graffiti as I feel it stands out more. I decided to keep it simple to black and white to not over complicate it. I made it so each letter gets bigger across the page. I am happy with my first idea I implicated as I feel it represents myself by using the 3D letters and spreading the word across the page. |

| Figure 12: Untitled (2013) Authors own. Finally for my last design i used the 'Gills sans' to write out the word dream. I first wrote the word normally then underneath wrote the word with the letters faced the opposite way. I then wrote out dream backwards to spell "maerd" then following this write this word with the letters faced the opposite way. I quite liked this idea as in one way or another the word dream was being written just in different forms. It would be interesting to see how it would have produced if it was continuously repeated either in black and white or in colour. |
Todays tasks involving typography was really interesting and a creative part of graphics as you could invent any style you wanted of your own. However, I didn't manage to see any of the books containing various styles which I would have liked to seen to generate more ideas for myself and to view how you can start off with something simple and then continue to develop the idea into a fantastic style.

The experimentation that you have completed here is really interesting as it is so different from one another, and I like the amount of different materials that have been used to create these. It would be good if you could use some less obvious materials such as tape, paper etc.
