Graphics day 3

Our final day of graphics consisted of us finishing our weekly projects of designing a future poster for our own exhibition which would be held in 2033. I found doing this project was actually quite difficult as it was picturing what would be held up in my gallery in 10 years time. I then started to do some small designs of what my final design would be on friday.

Figure 1: Untitled (2013) Authors own.
I began my first design by drawing out a simple house and adding in 'Daniella Architecture' as this is something I want to pursue in career wise. My next design involved a camera as I love taking images of anything and editing photos. For this design it states 'capture gallery' showing picture frames underneath which would be all my photographs I had taken in 2033

I then moved to my next design and included in one of my designs from the previous lesson on typography containing the word 'dream' written with stars. I also continued the handwriting further into the page and added in a rainbow as it can represent dreams. I left the rainbow and stars the only colourful elements added in to the design and left the writing black and white. I then did a design involving Fashion drawing out simple clothing pieces to welcome people to my clothing exhibition. I then did a small sketch on product design drawing out a simple bench to see if this is something I would be doing in 2033.

Continuing my ideas I went into drawing peacocks feather and the eyes. I added in 'Watch 2033' in the design. I felt that the peacock eyes represent something to myself as I find the peacock feather full of colour and design and the eyes represent something to myself religious wise. Writing the word 'watch' on top also shows that the eyes are looking into the future of 2033.

My final design began with the design of dreams in black and white with a colour rainbow shining in through the corner. I decided to add in butterflies as it links in with the theme dream and makes the design a peaceful calming poster to observe. I am quite happy with this design as I involved the camera as well and changed the title to 'Capture your dreams' I am happy I was able to mix my designs together into one and had come up with a title I wouldn't have expected. Planning out ideas and designs really did help with my overall outcome of my poster for 2033 and enjoy the experimenting with ideas.

I then had extra time so decided to do one of my original designs but to make the photo frames full of colour and the rest of the poster black and white. This photograph shows the design in a sepia format.

The same design as above shown in a 'process' format.

Another replica from above taken in black and white to show how each poster would look in different settings.

  1. I really like your final poster piece. The idea is very original and the colours you have used are well thought out, such that even the black and white picture is very interesting as it displays clearly the variety of complimentary tones. I'd love to see more pictures in this style. You can instantly identify that these are picture frames.
